Titan Arum in Sumatra (Indonesia).


The Probably the most important plant in the botanical garden is dieTitanenwurz from Sumatra (Indonesia). The national flower of Indonesia blooms only once every few years for a short time, thereby ensuring world-wide attention.
Since the discovery of this rare plant on 6 August 1878 have the Florentine botanist Beccari Odoardo flourished only about 50 copies.

The Bonn copies flourished in 1937, 1940 and 1987 were a further 6 flowers observed, including a plant that bloomed three times, last in 2006.

found with its record size of 3.06 m, the Bonn copy in 2003, even an entry in the Guinness Book of Records, because after 71 years in Bonn had surpassed the record of the Dutch town of Wageningen at seven centimeters. In early 2005, the tuber weighed 117kg.
